5 teens from political families booked for Hyd minor’s rape

Five youths, including three minors and two 18-year-olds, from influential political families of Hyderabad, have been booked for allegedly gang-raping a 17-year-old girl in a moving car. The five had been initially booked for molesting her. The additional charge was included on Thursday night after the survivor, in her statement, alleged that she had been gang-raped by the accused.

SC for 1-km eco-sensitive zone around national parks

Observing that the threat of climate catastrophe is looming large because of global warming, the Supreme Court on Monday said that governments had to be proactive in preserving ecology and directed that one km area around every protected forest, national park or wildlife sanctuary be declared as ‘eco-sensitive’ zone where no mining, construction and other projects will be allowed.
