As trade negotiators got down to working out a package, India on Monday called for talks for a TRIPS waiver on Covid therapeutics and devices after working out a plan on patent waiver for vaccines.
The TV rights for the Indian sub-continent had attracted the highest bid of 575 million rupees ($7.36 million) per match. The highest bid for the digital rights for the region was 500 million rupees for each game. Based on 74 games each season for the next five years, the combined TV and digital rights for the sub-continent rights is worth 397.75 billion rupees ($5.09 billion).
Monday’s session began at 11am with the Congress leader being asked about transactions related to acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd, publisher of National Herald and other Congress publications, by Young Indian for Rs 50 lakh. The latter is a private company controlled by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her two children.
